Snow on the Roof!

Quite frequently I get asked by people if they can go up on the roof and I have to say that no one is allowed on the roof for safety reasons--not their safety, but for the preservation of the rubber membrane that makes the roof watertight. Today I took some pictures of the snow on the roof before we began the arduous project of removing it. As nearly three feet had accumulated and drifted I thought it prudent to have it removed.

Enjoy wintery view!

Wadsworth Mansion Featured Wedding - Jess & Chris

Congratulations to Jess and Chris! Jess and Chris were actually married three years ago. They spent the last two years in Guam, where Chris was stationed in the Navy. Now that they are back in CT, they celebrated on January 2nd with their family and friends at the Mansion! They had a beautiful winter wedding. Below are some of our favorite photos provided by Sassy Mouth Photography.

The day started with a lovely ceremony at St. Pius Church in Middletown.

Then they headed to the Mansion to celebrate!

We love this shot of Chris, Jess, and their son, Jonah!

New Year's Day Open House

The Friends of Long Hill Estate hosted their 12th annual New Year's Day Open House at the Mansion this past Sunday. Approximately 400 guests enjoyed music by The Lost Acres String Band, carriage rides provided by Allegra Farm, and free refreshments and docent led tours of the estate. Thanks to those who attended! Below are some photos from the day.
